Dear Parents, Students, and Visitors,
Welcome to Mountain View High School! We hope you find our website and its many tools helpful. Thank you for using our webpage to support the success of our students. We are happy to have passed the one millionth hit milestone in September.
The goal at Mountain View is to provide a variety of opportunities so that all students can achieve success. Our outstanding faculty maintains high expectations for students involved in the many programs we offer--AP, IB, Dual-Enrollment, CTE, student publications, fine arts, activities and athletics. Additionally, our Wildcat Rigor philosophy challenges students to become responsible global citizens.
We are honored and excited to be the only International Baccalaureate school in Stafford County. The International Baccalaureate Programme requires that highly motivated students challenge themselves in a two-year program of coursework in six areas. Additionally, to receive an IB diploma, students must complete three core requirements—the Theory of Knowledge interdisciplinary course, a 4,000 word researched essay, and participation in 150 hours of creativity, action, and service. Our faculty saw great success in its first year of IB testing and remains eager to implement the IB curriculum.
We offer 42 athletic teams, 10 performance groups, and 36 clubs/organizations to enrich students’ high school experiences. Our athletic teams have achieved both respect and victory at the district, regional, and state levels. They are often commended for their spirit and sportsmanship. Our student publications—the award- winning Scene literary magazine, Cat’s Eye yearbook, and The Voice newspaper—allow our students an outlet for a variety of creative genres. The Blue Ribbon Honors music program invigorates members and fans alike. The Wild Acts drama troupe entertains the community and shares their talent at competitions. We have an incredibly active multicultural Spanish Club that hosts heritage festivals enjoyed by an extended regional area. The nationally-recognized Wildcat Learn and Serve students further strengthen our community outreach and commitment to service by tutoring younger students at Margaret Brent Elementary School, visiting the neighboring assisted-living facility, and sponsoring a Night of Service with county service organizations.
We hope that you have the opportunity to join the excitement that is Mountain View.
