Maria Victoria Alb holds a bachelors degree in Science, Nutrition and Dietetics from La Universidad Javeriana, the Jesuit University in Bogota, Colombia. This is her second year as a Spanish teacher at Mountain View High School.   She is very excited to teach our great students. Vamos Gatos, adelante con el español!
 
Amy Andersen has Bachelor of Science and Master Degrees in Secondary Mathematics Education and has taught in South Carolina, Florida, and now Virginia. Mrs. Andersen has received a Masters plus 30 hours towards a PhD in secondary mathematics education. She received her degrees from Clemson University. Mrs. Andersen has been nationally board certified since 2001. She enjoys singing, running, painting, and scrapbooking. She is married and has one daughter.
 
Doug Armstrong is the Director of Bands for Mountain View High School. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Virginia Tech and a Master of Arts degree in Music/Conducting from Radford University. He holds membership and leadership positions in numerous professional music education organizations and is currently serving as President of the Virginia Band and Orchestra Director’s Association.  Mr. Armstrong’s has been honored with multiple listings in Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers. In 2002, he was named Brooke Point High School Teacher of the Year. He was also selected as the Stafford County Teacher of the Year and was awarded the Washington Post’s Agnes Meyer Outstanding Teacher Award. In 2003, Mr. Armstrong was selected as the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Teacher of the Year.
 
Jennifer Bateman is in the science department as a Biology teacher at Mountain View. She is also the Color Guard instructor for the Mountain View High School Marching Band. Mrs. Bateman attended Longwood University where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and later completed her teaching licensure in secondary science education through Longwood's education department. She is a Stafford County transplant who is originally from York County, VA. Mrs. Bateman is excited to start a new year at MVHS! Go Wildcats!

Denise Baxter teaches the Culinary Arts Program at Mountain ViewHigh School.  She holds an Associates degree from The Culinary Institute of America (CIA) and is currently finishing the requirements of the American Culinary Federation's (ACF) Certified Secondary Culinary Educator (CSCE) certification.  Her food service industry experience includes culinary positions with Metropolitan Washington restaurants, resorts, specialty grocery stores and healthcare food service management.  A member of the ACF since '91, for the past two years she has held the office of Secretary of the Nation's Capital Chef's Association (NCCA) and was selected as the NCCA's "Educator of the Year" for 2007.  Prior to joining MVHS, Chef Baxter worked for the CIA educating high school students, Culinary Arts & Family & Consumer Science teachers, and the United States Air Force at the Pentagon through culinary workshops, demonstrations and judging state and national competitions for SkillsUSA, FCCLA and ProStart.  Chef Baxter lives in Vienna, Virginia with her husband and two dogs.  Chef is looking forward to mentoring the great students enrolled in the 2008/2009 MVHS Culinary Arts Program to reach their goals of competing in culinary competitions and preparing for post-secondary education in the food service and hospitality industry.

Melissa Beaty teaches American Sign Language and Leadership at Mountain View High School. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 2003 from the University of South Florida and her certificate in American Sign Language and Interpreting from Northern Virginia Community College in 2005. Mrs. Beaty is the sponsor of the American Sign Language Club and of the Student Council Association at Mountain View. She is looking forward to a great school year and is excited to work with students, parents, fellow staff, and members of the community to promote Mountain View’s dedication to excellence. Michelle Bohlen is looking forward to her fourth year at MVHS, teaching French I, II, III, IV-V and IB. Originally from Alabama, she graduated from AuburnUniversity (WAR EAGLE!) as an Honors Scholar with a B.A. in French and Political Science and a M.Ed. in Secondary French Language Education. During the past twelve years, Madame Bohlen has strived, from within and beyond the classroom walls, to share her love of the French language and culture with her students by sponsoring several active French clubs and leading seven student trips to Europe. She has been married for six years to Brian Bohlen and they have a three-year-old son and a two-year-old daughter.  She is excited about the upcoming school year and is looking forward to sharing her enthusiasm with her students. Allez, les Chats!

Rick Bradley teaches Geometry at MVHS. Previously, he served 34 at Robert E. Lee High School in Fairfax County as a math teacher, Director of Student Activities and coach. He is the boys  tennis coach for the Wildcats. He is the founder and director of the Northern Virginia Summer Repeat Program, a program established in 1996 to address the needs of high school students who need additional help and instruction to master a course. Mr. Bradley received a BA from Marietta College and a Master’s in Educational Administration from St. Mary’s  University. He lives in Stafford with his wife, Cheryl. The Bradley’s have four children, all graduates from Stafford schools.
 
Kevin Brown teaches in the Math Department and is a graduate of North Stafford High School and Emory and Henry College. He played professional basketball overseas in Birmingham, England. He has teaching experience at Gar-Field, North Stafford, and C. D. Hylton High Schools and is the Varsity Boys' Basketball Coach here at MVHS. Mr. Brown is married to Michele with two sons (Casey - 13 and Lucas - 11) and one daughter (Autumn - 16 months).
 
Kimberly Brown was named English teacher at Mountain View High School in February, 2005. She has been teaching English for eight years in Stafford and Spotsylvania counties. She was also the Director of the James Farmer Scholars Program at the University of Mary Washington for three years. Mrs. Brown has taught English 9 and 10 honors and English 11 classes. Mrs. Brown also has experience with the inclusion model. A native of the area, she grew up in Caroline County and is a graduate of James Madison University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and a minor in Secondary Education. She looks forward to the exciting opportunities and new challenges at Mountain View. Mrs. Brown lives in Spotsylvania with her husband, Melvin, and their two children, Quentin and Kendall.
 
Mrs. Jeanne Carter has degrees from James Madison College and Mary Washington College.She is beginning her 4th year at Mountain View High School, teaching  Drama and Video Production.  Outside of the classroom, Mrs. Carter coaches the WildActs Improv Troupe.  She also is the sponsor of the International Thespian Society (ITS), an international honor society for theatre. 

Tom Clark was appointed head of the drama program at Mountain View High School in February of 2005 and is excited about the 2009-2010 school year. He holds a B.F.A. in Drama from Bretton Hall College in England and an M.F.A. in Educational Theatre from Leeds University. Prior to this position, Mr. Clark headed the drama program at Stafford High School for 14 years. He intends for this upcoming school year to be filled with the successes and quality that have marked the drama program at Mountain View since the school opened. "The Wild Acts" will continue expanding with opportunities for students to be involved in The International Thespian Society, the improvisation team, main stage productions, the International Baccalaureate Theatre course, one act competition plays, and performances and opportunities for students in Washington D.C. this year.

Chad Cooke has been the Athletic Trainer for Mountain View High School since 2005. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) in 1997. Mr. Cooke served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at IUP during the 1997-98 school year where he also received his Masters’ of Science degree in Sports Sciences. He served as head athletic trainer at James Monroe High School for one year and North Stafford High school for six years. He is certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and licensed by the Virginia Board of Medicine. When Mr. Cooke is not working a Wildcat athletic event he is spending time with his “Girls”, wife Kelli and daughters Jillian and Josephine.
 
Eric Cooke will begin his fifth season as head football coach and physical education teacher at Mountain View High School. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University. Mr. Cooke will begin his fourteenth year in Stafford County Public Schools. Mr. Cooke currently resides in Stafford County with his wife Laurie and his two children, Carson and Kendall. He is excited about the opportunity to begin another year as a Mountain View Wildcat!
 

Laurie Cooke is returning “home” to Mountain View this year to begin her fourteenth year of teaching in Stafford County Public Schools. She taught at Mountain View for the first two years that it was open, then worked at Rocky Run Elementary School for the past two years as a speech-language pathologist. Mrs. Cooke is a native of Washington, Pennsylvania and received her Bachelor of Science in Education and Master of Science in Speech–Language Pathology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. She is currently endorsed in the areas of Speech-Language Pathology, Specific Learning Disabilities, and English. Mrs. Cooke lives in Stafford County with her husband, Eric, and their son and daughter, Carson and Kendall.

Brian Costa was born and raised in New Jersey. He recieved his B.A. in History from The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) and relocated to Virginia shortly after graduating. He recieved his MeD from the University of Mary Washington in 2007. He is teaching government and US/VA history this year and hopes that this year brings as much fun as last year did.
 
This is Robert Cox's third year teaching Earth Science, Geology, and coaching JV Softball at Mountain View. He is a life-long Virginia resident and  went to UVA-Wise for two years on a baseball scholarship before transferring to UVA and obtaining a BA in Environmental Science. He enjoy sports, hunting, fishing, and music and is very excited about the 2009-2010 school year at Mountain View.
 
Stacy Danko was raised in Woodbridge, Virginia and attended Virginia Commonwealth University, in Richmond. She received a BS in Mathematics Education and a MA in Educational Leadership from Touro University International.  This is her third year at Mountain View High School. She is teaching Math Readiness, Algebra I Pt I, and Algebra I Part 2 in the Fall semester and Algebra I Pt I, Algebra I Part 2 and Geometry, in the Spring.  It will be a fun & exciting year!!  GO WILDCATS!!!!

Wanda Davenport earned her Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from the University of California in San Diego. Mrs. Davenport enjoys sharing her love of the Spanish with foreign language learners. She is dedicated to working with students, parents, and fellow staff to enhance the learning experience at Mountain View High School.  Go Wildcats!

Dave Davis enters his fifth year at Mountain View High School. Dave presently teaches mathematics and coaches cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track.
He has spent the past 35 years coaching track and field and cross country in various high schools in the state of Virginia as well as at Georgetown University.
He is the VHSL Meet Director for Cross Country, a member of USATF, and is dedicated to development of student-athletes. Davis received a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1975 from Madison College and a Masters Degree from Virginia Tech in 1978.
 

Donna deToll is originally from New York and received a Bachelor's degree from NYU and a Master's degree from SUNY at Stony Brook. She is certified in special education and also in elementary and middle school education. She spent 10 1/2 years of her 18 years of teaching at North Stafford High School. She is currently a special education teacher at Mountain View High School and is married with two young daughters, one of whom is in first grande and attends Margaret Brent Elementary School. She is very excited to join the Mountain View Wildcat family.
 
Allison Dockter was born and raised in Monaca, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Pittsburgh. She attended Penn State University where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education - Mathematics and was a part of the Penn State Blue Band Silk Line. Miss Dockter currently teaches Algebra I, Algebra I Part I, and Algebra II. Miss Dockter is very excited about the new school year and proud to be a part of MVHS. Go Wildcats!
 
Mr. Dodd will begin his fourth year teaching here at Mountain View and his Fourteenth year in Stafford County.  He received his Bachelors of Science degree in Health and Physical Education from High Point University.  He currently resides in Fredericksburg with his wife, Michelle and his two sons, Nathan and Andrew.  He his excited to begin another year working with the Freshman Football team and to begin a new year here at Mountain View. GO WILDCATS!!
 
Nikki Eshelman is an English and Journalism teacher at Mountain View High School. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from the University of Pittsburgh and a Master of Arts degree in the Teaching of English from Teachers College, Columbia University. She is credited as a CJE (Certified Journalism Educator) receiving national certification from the Journalism Education Association. Ms. Eshelman has been teaching English for 15 years and journalism for 12 years. She currently teaches English 9 and Journalism I, II, III. She is also the adviser of the school newspaper, The Mountain View Voice.
 
Ms. Eshelman is married to Dave Eshelman, Supervisor for Career and Technical Education in Prince William County, who also started his career in education in Stafford County. They have two children, Aaron (8) and Ethan (5).

 
Mrs. Evans joined the Mountain View team in the fall of 2007, she currently teaches Nutrition and Wellness along with Family Relations and Parenting. Mrs. Evans hails from the great state of West Virginia, Go Mountaineers! She attended Berea College where she received a Bachelor of Science in Business and minored in Hospitality Management, she is now working towards her Master's in Education.

An English teacher at Mountain View, Greg Feducia just completed his twenty-sixth year in Stafford County Public Schools. He is a native of the Fredericksburg area and holds a B.A. in English from Mary Washington College, a M.Ed. in administration and supervision from George Mason University, and an endorsement in gifted education from the James Monroe Center. Most of his teaching years were at Stafford High School where he not only taught English, but he also served as a Focus teacher and taught for three years in the Commonwealth Governor’s School. At Mountain View, he sponsors the newly chartered National Honor Society.
 
Kat Fish teaches World History II Honors, IB History of the Americas, and is the Head Varsity Dance Team Coach. Kat has lived in Northern Virginia her whole life. She is a graduate from Bowling Green State University in Northwest Ohio. She graduated with a degree in Integrated Social Studies for Secondary Education, as well as minors in History, Dance Performance, and Dance Education. In 2007 she was named to the Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges and selected as one of the Top Ten Graduating Seniors from BGSU.
 
Ms. Fortlage is in her seventh year of teaching. She is apart of the science team here at MVHS, teaching biology and ecology. Ms. Fortlage graduated from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with a Master of Science in Secondary Education. She also has a Bachelor of Science in Health Science with a biology minor from Duquesne. Let’s Go Wildcats!!
 
James Forry is the Orchestra Director at Mountain View High School as well as A.G. Wright middle school. He holds a Bachelors Degree of Music Education from West Virginia University. In addition to teaching, he remains an active musician, having performed with the West Moreland Symphony (Greensburg, PA), the Fairmont Chamber Society (Fairmont, WV), the York Symphony (York, PA), and various other ensembles as well as string quartets performing for weddings and other ceremonies. Originally from York, Pennsylvania, this is James’ second year with Stafford County Schools.
 

Tarsha Franey holds an AA in Criminal Justice, a BS in Business Administration, and is currently working on her MBA. She is very excited about starting her second year at Mountain View High School, extremely passionate about Business and Technology and hopes it's contagious! In her spare time, she enjoys reading and spending quality time with her son Jaymin. She is looking forward to another great school year. Go WILDCATS!

Rachael Fuller was born and raised in Oswego, New York. Miss Fuller attended the State University of New York at Potsdam where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics and Secondary Education, and also a Master of Science in Education Degree in Secondary Mathematics. Miss Fuller teaches Math, is the advisor for Math Club and helps with band program here at Mountain View High School.
 
Margaret Gallagher holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Mary Washington College and a Master’s degree in Secondary Science Education from Virginia Commonwealth University. She has taught for 13 years, all of them in Stafford County. She teaches Human Anatomy and Physiology, Advanced Placement Biology, and Higher Level Biology (year 2) of the IB Program. She also serves as the Department Chair and lead teacher for the science department.   She lives in Spotsylvania County with her husband Drew , son Baylor, and daughter Ellen. She is very proud to be a member of the Mountain View Team. Let’s go Wildcats.
 
Rosario Garcia teaches Spanish and is the advisor for both the Spanish Club and Spanish Honor Society here at Mountain View High School. She has taught Spanish II, III,  IV, 5 and AP since joining Mountain View.  She will be teaching Spanish III and IB Spanish 1 during the 2009 -2010 academic year.

Mrs. Garcia graduated from Schiller International University with a Bachelor of International Business Administration. She also earned a Masters of Business Administration from De Sales University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Prior to teaching, Rosario worked as computational linguist, translator, and telecommunications analyst. Rosario has lived and traveled throughout Europe and the Middle East.
 
She is thrilled to be a part of the Wildcat Family and looking forward to the upcoming school year. ¡Vamos Gatos Salvajes!

 

Terry Godwin holds a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Education from University of Maryland, College Park and a Masters of Education in Integrated Technology from George Mason University. He teaches two classes at MVHS: Principles of Technology and Intro to Engineering. Students who complete Principles of Technology I and II may use these courses to satisfy one physics credit in laboratory science. Please visit his website for information on these classes. Mr. Godwin is also the advisor to the Technology Student Association and was named TSA Advisor of the year for 2006 and the school was awarded both the "Outstanding School Division Award" and the "Exemplary Achievement Award."

Mrs. Gould is a Business and Information Technology. Originally from Western New York, she graduated from Canisius College where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing with a minor in Management and earned a Master’s degree in Business & Marketing Education.  Mrs. Gould likes to keep busy; she is also the Business COE Coordinator, Business & CTE Testing Facilitator, freshman class sponsor, a co-sponsor of FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America), and co-sponsor of the Apple Federal Credit Union (The Wildcat Branch). Mrs. Gould is married and has a wonderful son.

Magistra Guyton begins her fourth year teaching Latin at Mountain View. Originally from New York City, she has a BA in Classical Languages and Literature and hopes to finish her Masters in Education in May. In 1983, she and her family moved to Fairfax, and in 2001 to Stafford. She is married to Bill, an ex-G-man. They are the proud parents of a daughter (and grandparents of a granddaughter and grandson!) and 4 sons, the youngest of which is a junior at Virginia Tech. Vincite, feles silvestres!
 
George Hartman is in his 7th year of teaching business in the high school. The 2009/2010 school year will be his third as a Wildcat.  He teachesng Accounting, Advanced Accounting, Finance, Principles of Business an Duel Enrollment Principle of Business.  Mr. Hartman has a Masters degree in Business Administration from Webster University and undergraduate degrees in Professional Aeronautics from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. Mr. Hartman is a Certified Internal Auditor and is a retired US Marine. He has been the Wildcat’s assistant softball coach since the school opened. He is married and has two children.
 
Mrs. Glenda Hegland teaches English 11, sponsors the Forensic Team, and is the Department Chairperson for English at Mountain View High School. She will also be teaching Theory of Knowledge for the International Baccalaureate Programme during Spring Semester. Before coming to Mountain View, she taught at Brooke Point High School and North Stafford High School. Mrs. Hegland holds a Bachelor’s Degree in English Education from the University of West Florida. 
 
Robert Hendricks is excited to be with the MVHS science department helping students in their exploration of Chemistry and IB Chemistry. Mr. Hendricks and his wife have taught for over twenty years in Japan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, The Netherlands and, most recently, India. Having a Bachelor’s Degree in Science Education (Chemistry) and a Master’s in Education Administration and Curriculum Supervision, Mr. Hendricks is currently completing his Doctorate Studies in Education Policy and Administration through the University of Minnesota.Mr. Hendricks looks forward to working with the students of MVHS as a parent, teacher and a fan.
 
Lauren Henn joined the health & physical education department at Mountain View High School in its inaugural year.   She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from James Madison University. Ms. Henn was the assistant coach for the cross country team as well as was the head coach of the girls' soccer program. Both programs did outstanding in their first year! Ms. Henn is in her eleventh year of teaching in Stafford County and is looking forward to another fantastic year at Mountain View High School!
 
Sherry Hession was named English teacher for Mountain View High School in February 2005. Mrs. Hession holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education with a minor in English from the University of Rhode Island. She is currently serving as a teacher/librarian for MVHS after completing a 27 credit library sciences endorsement program from UVA.  Beginning in September 2009, she will be attending classes as part of a Stafford County cohort through Mary Washington University resulting in a Masters in Education with a technology emphasis.  She also serves as the Junior Class advisor for MVHS.
 
James Hodges holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from the College of William and Mary and a Masters of Education in Administration from University of Longwood. He comes to Mountain View from Halifax County High School where he coached basketball and football, and taught in the math department. Mr. Hodges will continue to teach math at Mountain View High School and coach JV basketball. Mr. Hodges is married to Sarah Hodges, counselor at Mountain View, and has two children, Jacob and Blaire.
 
Sarah Hodges holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from James Madison University and a Masters of Education in School Counseling from Longwood University. She comes to Mountain View High School from Halifax County High School in South Boston, Virginia where she served as a school counselor, testing coordinator, Social Studies teacher and Peer Mediation sponsor. Mrs. Hodges is married to James Hodges, math teacher coach at Mountain View High School. The Hodges’ have two children, Jacob and Blaire.
 
Mr. Eric Hokanson has been apart of the Mountain View team since its inception in 2005. He hails from Virginia Beach where he taught Technical Theatre. He originally attended the University of Northern Colorado, but graduated from Old Dominion University with a BA in Theatre Education. Mr. H teaches Technical Theatre I, II and III as well as Video Production I, II and III and serves as the Technical Director for Mountain View's theatre. He's excited about another year at Mountain View and its continuing tradition of excellence.
  
Meaghan Hokanson was named Spanish teacher for Mountain View High School in May 2005. She received both her Bachelor of Arts in the Spanish Language and Latin American Studies and her Masters in the Art of Teaching from the University of Pittsburgh. She has taught Spanish I, II, AP, and IB since coming to Mountain View and is teaching Spanish I, IB level 1, and IB level 2 for the 2009 - 2010 school year. Mrs. Hokanson will continue to help with the marching band as well as sponsoring the Interact Club. She enjoys being part of the Mountain View team. Go Wildcats!!
 
Ms. Holley received a Bachelor’s Degree in German and a Master of Arts in Secondary Teaching from the College of William and Mary. She also has a Master of Arts in German from Bowling Green State University. She taught and coached soccer in Williamsburg, Virginia for eight years, and has also been a teacher and Selection Committee Member for the Governor’s German Academy. She is looking forward to her fifth year of working with the students at Mountain View. 
 

This is Byron Hoover’s 5th year at Mountain View High School. He is excited to teach a new class, IB Psychology. Mr. Hoover graduated from Wake Forest University and he is currently a candidate for National Board Certification.   
 
Jenny Hudak is excited to start her teaching career at Mountain View High School. Jenny moved to Stafford County from her hometown of Cleveland, OH. She graduated from Ohio University in Athens, OH with a Bachelors Degree in Secondary English Education. Jenny will be teaching Oral Communication and English 11. She's looking forward to a great year. GO WILDCATS!!
 
Mark Hughes teaches Art 1, Art 3, IB Art and Photojournalism. He is the yearbook advisor and is the Department Chairperson for the Fine and Performing Arts.  He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Interdisciplinary Studies from Virginia Commonwealth University. Before starting his career in education, he was employed in advertising. Mr. Hughes is in his 19th year in Stafford County Public Schools, the first 14 years at Stafford High School, where he taught a wide range of art and photojournalism classes.
 
Amy Jannereth holds a Bachelors of Science in Communication Disorders from Central Michigan University. She also earned her teaching certification in History and Psychology from Eastern Michigan University. She has lived in Virginia for the past five years.
 
Mrs. Jannereth is looking forward to another exciting year at Mountain View High School. She will be part of the IB program teaching IB History of the Americas. Mrs. Jannereth will also be teaching Honors World History II and US/VA History. Mrs. Jannereth will be the sponsor for National Honor Society as well. She is excited about the challenges this year will bring.
  
Jason John was named Head Varsity Golf Coach and Assistant Varsity Boys Basketball Coach at Mountain View High School in February 2005. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Education, Secondary Social Studies from Bloomsburg University, Pennsylvania. Coach John comes to Mountain View from Colonial Forge High School where he coached the Varsity Golf Team and the JV Boys Basketball Team. John will be teaching Ninth Grade World History and Eleventh and Twelfth Grade Sociology at Mountain View.
 
Meghan Johnson earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and French from Michigan State University and a Master of Arts degree in English Literature from Central Michigan University. She then taught Freshman and Advanced Composition at CMU. In 2006, she was named English and Dual Enrollment English teacher at Mountain View High School. Outside of the classroom, Mrs. Johnson is the Girls Varsity Tennis Coach and is the proud mom of twin girls. She is dedicated to being a positive light in students’ lives and couldn’t be happier about being a member of the wildcat family. There’s no better place to be.
 

Dale Jones holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, Virginia and Master of Art Education from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. He is currently in his 33rd year of teaching, with 3 of those years at Woodstock School, an international school in India. Most of his teaching has been in Henrico County and the City of Richmond. Mr. Jones has two children, a son who completed his BA in Spanish and philosophy in 2009 and a daughter who returned home from working in Germany for a year.
 
Linda Jones holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Leadership and Management from the University of Mary Washington and an Associates of Science degree in Marketing. She brings a unique perspective to the classroom with a wide variety of business experience. Before starting a career in Education she worked in Retail, Banking, Publishing, and Government Contracting. She teaches Computer Programming, Advanced Computer Programming and Keyboarding. Ms. Jones is proud and honored to be a Wildcat!! 
 

Lisa Jones is the Mathematics Department Chairperson for Mountain ViewHigh School. She holds a Bachelor of Liberal Studies Degree in Mathematics from MaryWashingtonCollege, and has been teaching in StaffordCounty for eleven years. For the 2008/2009 school year she will be teaching IB Math Studies and Advanced Algebra 2.  Mrs. Jones is dedicated to empowering students to succeed in mathematics at all levels, and is looking forward to participating in the International Baccalaureate Program at MVHS. 

Mrs. Jones has lived in StaffordCounty for 21 years. She and her husband, Bryan, have two daughters, Kristine and Megan, both of whom have graduated from Stafford County Public Schools. Go Wildcats!

Maggie Jones is in her 5th year as Director of the Counseling Department.  She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Education from Radford University and a Master of Education Degree in School Counseling from Virginia Commonwealth University. She has been in Stafford County Public Schools for 25 years of which 13 were at North Stafford High School as a Business Teacher. Before coming to Mountain View, she spent 8 years as a School Counselor at Brooke Point High School. Her duties while at Brooke Point High School included Co-Director of Counseling and School Test Coordinator.
 
Judy Kaelin, RN, CEN has practiced as a registered nurse for 28 years. A graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, Judy began her nursing career as an Intensive Care Nurse, with a Cardiac specialty, eventually extending her specialty to include Neurology and Medical Intensive Care. While working in California, Judy discovered a new passion for Emergency Medicine, and has been an Emergency Nurse for 15 years, including working as the ED Nurse Manager. Judy achieved and has held a national certification in Emergency Nursing for 10 years. She attended Arkansas State University and University of Phoenix. Married to an Air Force Officer, Judy was able to develop a broad nursing experience throughout the United States and Europe. Her most rewarding experience occurred in former communist Romania, volunteering as a medical contingent for the Children’s Appeal of Eastern Europe. Judy also volunteers in the Fredericksburg community at the Moss Free Clinic. Judy and her husband have 3 adult children.

Bonita Keene was named Chorus Director for Mountain View High School in January, 2005. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Education from Emory and Henry College. Mrs. Keene has taught students in grades K - 12 in both private and public schools. She has also taught private piano and voice lessons. She holds memberships in several professional organizations and has been an adjudicator for choral festivals and a guest lecturer on topics concerning music education. Mrs. Keene has been listed multiple times in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers. Previously Chorus Director at North Stafford High School, her alma mater, she is very active in the community. She has been Assistant Director of the Maranatha Touring Choir of Fredericksburg since 1991 and is currently performing with the Maranatha Gospel Choir. A lifelong resident of the Fredericksburg area, she now lives in Stafford with her husband, Greg, and their two children, Corinn and Evan, both currently students at MVHS.
 
School year 2009-2010 marks Mrs. Kiesau’s seventeenth year of full-time teaching. She has taught a variety of ELA subjects at each of the grade levels in a variety of schools. She earned a B.A. in English with a minor in Secondary Education from Converse College (Spartanburg, SC) and has endorsements to teach middle school, tech in education, and gifted and talented from Coastal Carolina University (Conway, SC) and Francis Marion University (Florence, SC). In addition, she has completed coursework for a M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction from Lesley University. Last year Kiesau began coaching the Scholastic Bowl team, otherwise known as the "A-Team." This year she will teach Creative Writing and serve as co-advisor with Mrs. Renard-Spicer for Scene, the award-winning literary magazine here at MVHS. Mrs. Kiesau loves to read, travel, and spend time with her family. She lives with her family in Stafford and has two children in Stafford County Schools. One is a junior here at MVHS and one attends Rodney Thompson Middle School. She is excited for the educational journey this year!
 
Adam Knaresborough is in his third year of teaching and coaching at Mountain View HS.  Mr. K teaches World 9 and US/VA Government.  Along with teaching, Coach K is an assistant football coach and 9th grade head basketball coach.  He is from North Huntingdon PA, a suburb of Pittsburgh.  Mr. Knaresborough graduated from West Virginia University with a Master's Degree in Secondary Education/Social Studies. 
 
Becky Kowalski teaches Government and AP Government in the Social Studies department at Mountain View High School. She earned a B.A. in History and Political Science from Mary Washington and Masters of Teaching from VCU. She just completed her first year at Mountain View and is excited about next year. Currently, she lives in Stafford County with her husband. It is great to be a Wildcat!
 
Jo Koziuk was selected as instructor of cosmetology in May of 2009. Originally from St. Joseph, Michigan, she began her career in 1984 as a platform artist/stylist with a Sebastian Artistic Design Center. Jo has had the privilege of training under Geri Cusenza, founder of Sebastian International and Paul D’Armas founder of Fred Segal Beauty both from Los Angeles, Ca. She holds two licenses, one in Michigan and one in Virginia. She lives in Stafford with her husband Greg and has three daughters, two that are Mountain View Wildcats. Jo is extremely excited to share her knowledge and expertise with her students and to continue the success that is Mountain View Cosmetology. GO WILDCATS!

Andrea Layton holds a bachelors degree in Psychology and a Master of Science Degree in School Counseling, both from the University of Rochester in Rochester, New York. Prior to moving to Virginia in 2005, Mrs. Layton was a School Counselor at a small Catholic High School in Geneva, NY.   Mrs. Layton is in her fifth year as a School Counselor at Mountain View High School where she is also an assistant Track Coach.  Mrs. Layton currently lives in Bristow, VA with her husband.     
 
Kelly Lenart holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing, Management and Fashion Marketing. Before starting her career in education, Ms. Lenart worked in the business field for many years, specializing in Human Resources and Marketing. Ms. Lenart is the DECA and Co-op Coordinator for Mountain View High School.
 
She is very excited to work with the wonderful Wildcat staff, students and parents.

Joyce Lopes  holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Taylor University in Indiana, and a Masters of Science in Counseling Psychology from Chaminade University of Honolulu. Mrs. Lopes is in her eighth year as a school counselor, having worked for both Hawaii State Schools and Spotsylvania County Schools prior to coming to Mountain View High School.  She also has prior experience working in the mental health field, primarily with those suffering from drug addiction. Mrs. Lopes lives with her husband and young son, Jansen, and she is excited to begin her fourth year as a Wildcat!
 
Craig Lopez was named as head baseball coach, physical education, driver education teacher and sponsor of fellowship of Christian athletics at Mountain View High School in February 2005. Mr. Lopez holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. Mr. Lopez was the first player to be drafted from VCU. He was a fifth round selection of the Baltimore Orioles in the spring draft of 1986. He pitched for the Baltimore Orioles organization for four years. He spent one year as baseball assistant at Virginia State University. Mr. Lopez taught at Walker Grant Middle School and was head baseball coach at James Monroe High School for three years. Mr. Lopez also taught for nine years at North Stafford High School where he was head baseball coach. During this time 29 players signed college scholarships and eight were drafted. Mr. Lopez resides in Fredericksburg with his wife Terri, two sons, Jacob and Craig, and his daughter Grace.
 

Katie MacCary holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Alabama, and a Masters of Arts in Counseling with a specialty in School Counseling from WebsterUniversity.  She comes to Mountain View from Orlando, Florida where she completed her Masters degree.  Mrs. MacCary lives in Fredericksburg with her husband and enjoys traveling and scuba diving.  She is looking forward to a new year of counseling at Mountain View. Annette MacDougall earned both her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Master of Education from Ohio University. She earned her National Board Professional Teaching Certificate in 2002. Prior to teaching at MVHS, Mrs. MacDougall has taught at Colonial Beach High School, Washington and Lee High School, and Brooke Point High School.
 
Throughout her 20 years of teaching, she has taught everything from Pre-Algebra to AP Calculus BC and has enjoyed teaching IB Mathematics SL this past year. She is dedicated in helping her students achieve their full potential, encouraging them to go that extra step.

Stacey Malamisura is a native of Stafford County, having graduated from Brooke Point High School in 2003. Upon graduation, she continued her education at Virginia Tech where she earned her Bachelors in English: Literature, Language, and Composition. From there, she went on to attend Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio where she received her Masters in English Education. This is her first year at Mountain View High School and is excited to be working with the wonderful Wildcats. She will be taking on the challenges of English 9 and English 12 this year and looks forward to sharing her passion of reading, writing, and the English language with her students. Aside from English and teaching, her passions include: music, movies, playing sports, travelling, and meeting new people.

Cessy Mallory is a Health and Physical Education teacher and assistant athletic director at Mountain View. Prior to working in Stafford County, she taught special education and physical education and coached girl’s basketball for three years in Prince William County. Before beginning her teaching career, Mrs. Mallory coached at the collegiate level for three years at Longwood College, Crowder College, and Pittsburg State University. Mrs. Mallory graduated from Longwood College with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology, Pre-Law. She also earned a Masters of Science in Physical Education from Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas. Mrs. Mallory has just recently finished the Educational Leadership Certificate program at Virginia Commonwealth University. Let’s go Wildcats!

Bonnie Margheim is teaching Statistics at Mountain View this year. Prior to working in Stafford County, she taught math for 10 years in Prince William County. Mrs. Margheim earned her Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering at Virginia Tech and a second bachelors degree in General Science at Coe College (Cedar Rapids, Iowa). She lives in Stafford with her husband Greg and their children Jensen, Ryley, and Grayson.
 
Kimberly Marietta was selected as instructor of the Cosmetology department in April 2005. She holds two licenses, one in the State of California and one in the State of Virginia. Kimberly has worked in the field of Cosmetology for over 31 years. Some of her professional experiences include; hair and make-up artistry for television, stage and theatrical performances as well as placing in regional and state competitions.
 
She has three daughters who graduated from Stafford high schools and lives in the area with her husband, Joe. She is excited about building a successful program for her students.

Christine Maris is a Library Media Specialist for Mountain View High School. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech/English Education from the University of South Florida, and a Masters degree in Library Science through Longwood University. Prior to becoming a media specialist, Mrs. Maris taught English, public speaking and debate for twenty-four years. She moved to Virginia with her husband in 2000. Chris enjoys working with teachers and helping students with their research projects. As a library media specialist, it is her goal to assist students in becoming independent, information literate, lifelong learners. 
 
Stacey Marsh is beginning her third year as a collaborative English teacher at Mountain View. Prior to becoming a Wildcat, she was an inclusive general education teacher at Stafford Elementary. She earned her Masters of Education in Special Education at Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pennsylvania. This year also marks the third year that she has been the Varsity Volleyball Head Coach. Her husband, Derek, also works at Mountain View as a collaborative Math teacher.

Nick Martino is beginning his third year of teaching here at Mountain View. Originally from Long Beach, NY, he graduated from the University of Mary Washington with a degree in History and Secondary Education. Mr. Martino was a two sport college athlete, competing in Ice Hockey and Lacrosse, and was captain of both teams. He currently works as an assistant lacrosse coach at the University of Mary Washington. Mr. Martino teaches US/VA History and the new IB elective Social and Cultural Anthropology. He is very proud to be part of the such an amazing staff here at Mountain View.

Sherry Pemberton, teaches Introduction to Health and Medical Sciences as well as the Home Health Aide class. She received her Associates Degree in Nursing, Montgomery College, Takoma Park, MD; Bachelors Degree in Nursing, Marymount College of VIrginia, Arlington, VA. She is a member of the Association of Operating Room Nurses and is a certified perioperative nurse (CNOR). She is married and has been a resident of Stafford, VA since 1989. She has 2 children in Stafford County schools. She is excited for another awesome year at Mountain View!! Go Wild Cats! 
 
Kim Perkins is the Business and Information Technology Department Chairperson at Mountain View High School. She holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s in Business Education from Eastern Kentucky University and has taught in Stafford and Prince William Counties. 
 
She is certified by Microsoft Corporation in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. She also holds an IC3 certification from Certiport.  Ms. Perkins teaches Design, Multimedia, and Web Technologies (Beginning and Advanced) and IB Business and Management and is the sponsor for MVHS Future Business Leaders of America.

Elizabeth O’Hanlon is returning for her 3rd year at Mountain View. She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Asheville, where she majored in Literature with a teaching certification, while participating the Division I Cross Country and Track and Field. This year, she is looking forward to teaching 9th and 12th grade English. Go Wildcats!
Erica Oliver is going into her seventh year of teaching. She is native of Georgia where she began her teaching career in 2002. She has a BA in Mass Communications, and Public Relations, teacher certification in English Education grades 6-12, and a Masters degree in English as a Second Language (ESL). She is also currently working on a degree in School Administration, as well as completing her course work in Gifted Education.
 
Ms. Oliver is very excited to be joining the Mountain View family as well as the English Department. For the 2009-2010 school year, she will be teaching tenth and eleventh grade English. In her spare time she likes reading, writing, horseback riding, swimming, and traveling. She is looking forward to a fantastic school year ahead!

Cameron Patterson comes to us from East Lansing, Michigan by way of Western Michigan University.  He graduated with a Bachelor of the Arts in History with a Political Science minor.  Mr. Patterson was a dual athlete in college and will be one of the coaches for the Wildcat wrestling team and will be the head JV soccer coach.  He is enjoying his first year in Virginia with his wife who is teaching 2nd grade at Barrett Elementary and is looking forward to a great year!

Meghan Penksa holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. Ms. Penksa will be teaching World History I and US/VA History. This will be her first year here at Mountain View and third year of teaching overall, spending the first two years of her career teaching Middle School in Daytona Beach, FL.  She was a member of her college soccer team and is very excited to join the coaching staff at Mountain View as Assistant Coach for the girls soccer team. She is anxious for the start of the school year and is looking forward to a great year at MVHS!

Michael Pratte has been an educator in Stafford County for the past 14 years. Mr. Pratte is dual certified in Biology and Earth/Space Science and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Longwood College and a Master’s degree in Geosciences from Mississippi State University. He is proud to continue the tradition of excellence as part of the Wildcat family and teaches a variety of Science courses including: Oceanography, Honors Earth Science, and Dual enrollment IB Ecosystems and Society which serves as the county’s first Geospatial Academy through James Madison University. Mr. Pratte enjoys offering a challenging and rewarding curriculum and field experience to his students and is currently working towards National Board Certification in AYA Science.
 


Fernando Ramos is going into his fourth year as a physical education teacher here at MVHS. He was named the 2008 head varsity soccer coach. He received his BA degree in Exercise Sport and Health from Radford University in 2006. While at Radford, he was a four year soccer player. He Spent the 2006 summer training with a professional soccer team in Portugal. Coach Ramos also coaches multiple youth travel soccer teams in the Fauquier County area. Mr. Ramos is proud to be part of the Wildcat family!
 
Ashley Ranalli comes to Mountain View High School new this year, from Kalamazoo, Michigan! She holds a bachelors degree in Secondary English Education with a minor in History from Western Michigan University. Before pursuing education, she studied literary criticism and gender politics for four years at WMU under Dr. Jon Adams, author of Male Armor.  Ms. Ranalli is so excited to work with the staff and students at Mountain View, and she is thrilled to be able to call herself a Wildcat!

Valarie Raven has been teaching at Brooke Point High School for the past eleven years. Currently Mrs. Raven is teaching World History I & II; however, she has taught several subjects while at Brooke Point: English 9, Algebra, Geometry, Consumer Math, World History I and II, U.S./VA History, Government, and World Geography. She loves teaching the collaborative models and helping with SOL remediation. Mrs. Raven has been the Junior Class and Senior Class sponsor for many years. She was named Brooke Point High School's Teacher of the Year for 2004. She has been a resident of Stafford County for the past twenty-three years and has had two children graduate from Stafford County Public Schools. Mrs. Raven holds a History Degree from Mary Washington University and a Special Education Degree from George Mason University.
 
Lisa Renard-Spicer teaches Sophomore Honors English, IB English 12, and Creative Writing. She also advises the school’s literature and art magazine, Scene. Ms. Renard-Spicer holds a B.A. in English from California State University and a M.Ed. from the University of Mary Washington, with additional endorsement in gifted and talented education. She is trained and certified by both the International Baccalaureate Organization and the College Board. During the summer months, Ms. Renard-Spicer serves as a judge of scholastic publications for Columbia University and University of South Carolina. She has taught high school for 11 years, 9 of those in Stafford County. Ms. Renard-Spicer is married to Mr. Aaron Spicer, who also teaches in the district, and has two children of her own in Stafford County schools.
 
Evelis Rivera is excited about starting her second year as the English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher. She holds a Bachelors in Business Administration and a Masters in Education from the University of Mary Washington. As a former ESL student herself she understands the challenges of learning a new language and is eager to share her experiences with her students.
 
Sarah Roeske was hired as a social studies teacher for Mountain View High School in February 2005 after teaching at Stafford High School for seven years. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Politics from Hamilton College in Clinton, NY and a Master of Arts degree in International Relations from New York University in New York, NY. This year she will be teaching Global Issues, IB 20th Century World History and U.S./V.A. Government. Ms. Roeske have been married to her husband, Lance, for eleven years and they have two children, Isabella (7) and Ethan (4). She looks forward to year five at Mountain View High School and the new and exciting challenges that lay ahead.
 
Dan Ruppert is in his second year at Mountain View as a teacher and fifth season as an assistant football coach. Prior to teaching at Mountain View High School, Mr. Ruppert taught at Dixon-Smith Middle School as a Special Education and Physical Education Teacher. He holds a bachelor degree from Frostburg State University and is currently working on his Masters in Education at the University of Mary Washington. Mr. Ruppert currently resides in Stafford County, with his wife Tracee, and two sons, Landon and Conor.
 
Helen Schwartz earned her Bachelor of Science degree from SUNY Oswego. In 1977, she moved to Virginia with her husband, Steve. They have two children. Daniel and Catie graduated from Brooke Point High School in 2001 and 2004 respectively. Mrs. Schwartz has worked with Stafford County Public Schools for thirty three years. At Stafford Middle School, she taught 5th grade for three years then 7th and 8th for three years. The next eleven years were spent as a North Stafford Wolverine followed by eleven years as a Brooke Point Black Hawk.   Although Mrs. Schwartz has taught a variety of math classes, she has often been an advocate for the collaborative students.
 
Jon Schwartz is a first year teacher who just moved from the great state of Michigan. He graduated from Central Michigan University with a BA in Secondary Science Education. Mr. Schwartz teaches math and coaches wrestling for here at Mountain View. He eagerly awaits the start of the year and anticipates good things for his students and athletes!

Erin Senters is a Richmond, Virginia native who was hired as an English teacher at Mountain View High School in 2005. Mrs. Senters holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from James Madison University and a Masters of Education degree from James Madison University. She is in her fourth year of teaching and will be teaching 10th and 12th grade English. Mrs. Senters looks forward to another year with the Wildcat family.
 
Brandy Sharp is excited to return for her second year with the Mountain View family!  Ms. Sharp graduated from Stafford High School in 2000 and went on to receive her bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia’s College at Wise with a double major in History and Political Science.  She continued her education at Virginia Commonwealth University, completing her master’s degree in Teaching and Learning.  Ms. Sharp will be teaching Government as well as World History I and is also the JV Dance coach.

Melody Shotwell is beginning her second year as a member of the Business Department. She will be teaching Sports, Entertainment and Recreational Marketing (SER), Advanced SER, and Principles of Business (POB). Ms. Shotwell graduated from Old Dominion University in 2006 with a BS in Fashion Merchandising and a double minor in Marketing and Studio Art. At Old Dominion, she was also a division-one athlete and played lacrosse.  Ms. Shotwell is originally from Fairfax County (Lake Braddock) but currently lives in Prince William County. In the spring, she coaches women's varsity lacrosse and varsity field hockey in Prince William. GO WILDCATS!

Rachel Sigler holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Towson University in Baltimore, Md. and a Master of Interdisciplinary Studies degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. She is currently in her 29th year of teaching, with 15 of those years in Stafford County as an art teacher at Stafford High School, where she taught Art 1, 2, 4, 5, and AP Studio Art. Previously, she has taught K through 6th grade in Baltimore, Md., 7-12th in Salisbury, Md., and was an adjunct faculty member of the art department at Salisbury University. Her four children graduated from North Stafford High School.
 
Ed Simonpietri will be entering his 21st year of teaching next year. He was hired to teach for Mountain View in February 2005. He holds a B.A. in history from Norwich University and a Masters of Education in Administration from George Mason University. He is currently pursuing his doctorate. During his teaching career Mr. Simonpietri has taught everything from Alternative Education Programs to the college level. Currently at Stafford High School, he teaches AP World History and AP Government.   In addition to teaching for Stafford County, he is currently a part time distance-learning instructor for Strayer University. He is looking forward to teaching at Mountain View and to initiating the IB Program for the social studies department.
 
Mr. Simonpietri has coached a number of high school sports over the years, including football, basketball, wrestling, track, and soccer. He was a head soccer and track coach at James Monroe High School and was a coaching staff member of two state championship football teams and one state runner up team, as well as one second place state wrestling team. He has also served as the defensive coordinator at the varsity football level. He has also sponsored a number of clubs and classes over the years. Mr. Simonpietri has been active in coaching in the SRSL in Stafford County for a number of years. He enjoys coaching his daughters in soccer and participating in whatever they are doing.
 
His wife, Jane, a Stafford High graduate, also teaches in the county. Their daughters Kendall and Haleigh attend school in Stafford County.
 
Lisa Spencer is a special education teacher at Mountain View. She received her Bachelors (in Geography) and Master's in Special Education from the University of Mary Washington. This will be her 8th year in special education looking forward to teaching US/Virginia History and helping students to be successful beyond high school. Ms. Spencer enjoys spending time with her significant other, Bill, and the four children; two of which are in college and one who is a junior at Mountain View. Ms. Spencer is originally from Massachusetts therefore GO RED SOX!!!!!

Erin Stonebraker was born and raised in Western Pennsylvania. She attended Clarion University and graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Education and majored in Secondary Education General Science. Ms. Stonebraker teaches Earth Science at Mountain View High School and served as the JV girls soccer coach. She is excited about the upcoming year at Mountain View High School. 
 
Christine Stutler is returning for a fourth year at Mountain View High School. She will be teaching Math Analysis, Geometry and Geometry Part I and II. Mrs. Stutler holds a BA in Mathematics from Ithaca College in New York, as well as a Master of Arts in Teaching in Mathematics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a county resident with two children, Mason, a ninth grader here at Mountain View, and Rachel, a seventh grader at Gayle Middle School. Her husband Ben is the Activities Director at Battlefield High School in Haymarket, Virginia.
I am Pattie Sullivan, Dept. Head for Health, Driver's Education, and Physical Education. I graduated from Virginia Tech!! Go Hokies!! I would like to welcome you all to another exciting year at our school. We participate in all sports and promote life time fitness activities. Driver's Education is offered to our 10th grade students. I am the Varsity Field Hockey and Softball coach, looking forward to another very competitive season in both sports.
 
Lindsay Sutton is a Stafford County native and is entering her seventh year of teaching here at Mountain View. She taught three years previously at Stafford High School. She is a graduate of Mary Washington College with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Secondary Education, and is currently working on a Masters in Instructional Design and Technology. Mrs. Sutton is also the Varsity cheerleading coach. Her husband, Matt, is a Math teacher at A.G. Wright Middle School. Mrs. Sutton enjoys reading, exercising, watching movies, scrapbooking, and being a Wildcat!

Randa “Jane” Thompson joined the Wildcat family in 2008, and looks forward to collaborative class work in ninth grade English and Developmental Reading. She attended Snead State Junior College, Jacksonville State University, and currently attends University of Mary Washington. Mrs. Thompson sponsors the MVHS Power Lifting Club and is a co-advisor for Technology Student Association. During her free time she enjoys her horses and her two children who are students here at MVHS.

Seth Thompson is excited to enter his first year of teaching physics! He joined the science department in May 2009. Mr. Thompson attended Grove City College, where he earned a Bachelors of Science in physics, general science, and secondary education. While at Grove City, he also played baseball, earning 4 varsity letters as an outfielder. His love for baseball carries over into his new career, as he is the Head JV Baseball Coach here at MVHS. Mr. Thompson is anticipating a great year at Mountain View…let’s go Wildcats!

Melissa Tirone is a chemistry teacher at Mountain View High School. After growing up in Miller Place, New York, Ms. Tirone first came to Virginia when she attended the University of Mary Washington where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. Going into her fourth year at Mountain View, Ms. Tirone will be teaching Chemistry and IB Chemistry HL. Ms Tirone is also coaches Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field.  Ms Tirone is looking forward to another wonderful and exciting year at MVHS!
 
Carlene Tornai holds a Bachelor of Science in Social Psychology from Park University and Masters in Education from Old Dominion University. She has completed undergraduate studies in Fashion Merchandising in addition to working in the clothing industry as a seamstress and costume designer for 30 years.
 
Mrs. Tornai is the co-advisor for Family, Career & Community Leaders of America (FCCLA). This year she will be teaching Life Planning, Intro to Fashion Design & Marketing/Intro to Housing Design, and Family Relations & Parenting. She enjoys helping students prepare for their future and is looking forward to an awesome fifth year at Mountain View.  GO WILDCATS!!!
 

Cynthia Tyler was appointed as a social studies teacher in February 2005. Ms. Tyler holds a Bachelors of Science degree from Mary Washington College and a Masters of Education from George Mason University. She has taught for the past eight years at Stafford High School. During those eight years she has sponsored the student council, Students for Ethnic Unity club, the sophomore class, and Students Serving Stafford. Ms Tyler is also a clinical faculty mentor for the University of Mary Washington. Ms. Tyler is looking forward to the wonderful opportunities at Mountain View High School.
 
Diana Van Fleet began her teaching career at Mountain View in August of 2007. Before coming to Mountain View, she taught English 10, English 12, Humanities 12, AP 12, and Creative Writing I and II at Potomac Senior High School in Prince William County for 10 years. Currently, she teaches English 10 and English 12. Mrs. Van Fleet holds a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from Old Dominion University and is trained and certified in the Cambridge University IB program. She has been married for 18 years and has two daughters ages three and thirteen. Mrs. Van Fleet looks forward to many exciting years in Stafford County as a Wildcat. Go Cats!

Sue Watts is looking forward to her first year coordinating the IB program at MVHS! She comes to Mountain View from Prince William County where she spent eight years as an IB History teacher and two years as an IB Coordinator. She is originally from Massachusetts and holds a BA in Political Science from the University of Connecticut (Go Huskies). She moved to Virginia in 1994; at that point she decided to pursue a career in teaching and went on to earn her Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from George Mason University. Sue is married with two children who will hopefully be future Mountain View Wildcats!
 
Todd Welker was named technology education teacher in February of 2005. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Kent State University. Mr. Welker is in his fourteenth year in Stafford County Public Schools, all of which have been at Stafford High School where he taught a wide range of technology courses, most recently video production, engineering, and production systems technology. Outside the classroom he has been active as a coach, class sponsor and an advisor to the Technology Student Association. Mr. Welker looks forward to working in all facets of the school community and becoming part of the Wildcat family.
 
Doug Werner was named to the Science department in February of 2005. He comes from Rochester New York where he has earned his Bachelor of Arts in Biology from St. John Fisher College. Mr. Werner is also pursuing a Master of Arts from the University of Mary Washington’s James Monroe Center. He has taught in the Science department at North Stafford for the past two years as well as an assistant coach for football. Mr. Werner is excited to be a Wildcat and part of a new tradition.
 
Gary Wolford teaches Biology and Integrated Science. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Youngstown State University in Ohio, and a Masters of Education in Teaching as well as a Postmasters in Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University. Mr. Wolford comes to Mountain View having taught for twelve years at Brooke Point High School. 
 
Sarah Woods is thrilled to join the Mountain View Wildcats this fall! Originally from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Go Tarheels! Ms. Woods is the Literacy Coach and teaches Reading Across the Curriculum.

Meg Wright is a Wheaton College graduate.  She will be teaching Spanish 2 and 3 this year.  Mrs. Wright enjoys reading, knitting and spending time with her family.  She married Mr. Wright and has three beautiful daughters.  Mrs. Wright is very happy to be a part of the Mountain View family.  She is excited about the many opportunities of this school year.  Go Wildcats!

Bryan Zardezed enters his 11th year as an educator in Stafford County working in the Special Education Department and first year as a Mountain View Wildcat. Originally from the Upstate New York area, he graduated from Mansfield University, PA where he obtained a Bachelor's of Science in Education Degree with a concentration in Special Education (ED, LD, & OHI). Mr. Zardezed has taught 10 years at Colonial Forge High School where he was the head varsity basketball coach for 7 seasons and head jv baseball coach for 4 seasons. Mr. Zardezed lives in Spotsylvania with his wife, Shannon, and their two children, Addison and Bryson.
