Sequence of Pre-IB and IB Courses for Grades 9-12
The following sequence of course is a suggested program of study for students interested in pursuing the IB Diploma or individual certificates. Please note that
** Full diploma candidates must complete three Higher Level (HL) courses and three Standard Level (SL) courses during their junior and senior years. These courses must cover the five major subject areas and one elective subject. Diploma candidates must also take IB Theory of Knowledge course.

# World language courses may include Spanish, French, German or Latin.
## IB Full Diploma students do not need to take Earth Science or World History I in ninth grade. Taking the IB Higher Level Science and History Courses fulfills the VA requirements for graduation.
* Currently our IB Fine Arts (Group 6) Electives are Visual Arts and Theatre. This sequence is NOT required for an IB Diploma. Students can shoose this option OR and elective from the list immediately below to count for group 6.
** IB electives may include: Physics, Environmental Systems and Societies, Social and Cultural Anthropology, Psychology and Business Management.
NOTE – It is assumed that students desiring the Full IB Diploma have taken at least one level of world language and at least Algebra I in eighth grade. If the student has not, they may still take pursue the IB diploma, but the course sequence may be different.
